1968 Mexico Lions Club International Olympic Gold Medal. This medal has a diameter of 40mm and contains 41.666 grams of 21kt gold which totals 37.5 grams of 24kt gold, the same as a Mexico 50 Peso gold coin. The edge has the inscription "Num. 598 21.7k"
It is believed that this gold medal is to commemorate the lions club international service to the 1968 summer Olympics which where held in Mexico. "Ofrecemos y deseamos amistad con todos los pueblos de la tierra" is the saying on the reverse of this medal. Comes in original commemorative plastic box with a COA. THIS MEDAL IS EXTREMELY RARE AND WE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ONLINE ABOUT THIS MEDAL. We do not know much of the history behind why or for what this medal was issued so any additional information that you have on this medal would be greatly appreciated.
